  1. And they ask you about Zulqarnain. Say: I will recite to you an account of him.

  2. They whose eyes were under a cover from My reminder and they could not even hear.

  3. A mention of the mercy of your Lord to His servant Zakariya.

  4. And mention Marium in the Book when she drew aside from her family to an eastern place;

  5. And mention Ibrahim in the Book; surely he was a truthful man, a prophet.

  6. And mention Musa in the Book; surely he was one purified, and he was a messenger, a prophet.

  7. And mention Ismail in the Book; surely he was truthful in (his) promise, and he was a messenger, a prophet.

  8. And mention Idris in the Book; surely he was a truthful man, a prophet,

  9. Does not man remember that We created him before, when he was nothing?

  10. Nay, it is a reminder to him who fears:

  11. Surely I am Allah, there is no god but I, therefore serve Me and keep up prayer for My remembrance:

  12. And remember Thee oft.

  13. Go you and your brother with My communications and be not remiss in remembering Me;

  14. Then speak to him a gentle word haply he may mind or fear.

  15. Thus do We relate to you (some) of the news of what has gone before; and indeed We have given to you a Reminder from Ourselves.

  16. And thus have We sent it down an Arabic Quran, and have distinctly set forth therein of threats that they may guard (against evil) or that it may produce a reminder for them.

  17. And whoever turns away from My reminder, his shall be a straitened life, and We will raise him on the day of resurrection, blind.

  18. There comes not to them a new reminder from their Lord but they hear it while they sport,

  19. And We did not send before you any but men to whom We sent revelation, so ask the followers of the reminder if you do not

  20. Certainly We have revealed to you a Book in which is your good remembrance; what! do you not then understand?

  21. Or, have they taken gods besides Him? Say: Bring your proof; this is the reminder of those with me and the reminder of those before me. Nay! most of them do not know the truth, so they turn aside.

  22. And when those who disbelieve see you, they do not take you but for one to be scoffed at: Is this he who speaks of your gods? And they are deniers at the mention of the Beneficent Allah.

  23. Say: Who guards you by night and by day from the Beneficent Allah? Nay, they turn aside at the mention of their Lord.

  24. And certainly We gave to Musa and Haroun the Furqan and a light and a reminder for those who would guard (against evil).

  25. And this is a blessed Reminder which We have revealed; will you then deny it?

  26. They said: We heard a youth called Ibrahim speak of them.

  27. Therefore We responded to him and took off what harm he had, and We gave him his family and the like of them with them: a mercy from Us and a reminder to the worshippers.

  28. And certainly We wrote in the Book after the reminder that (as for) the land, My righteous servants shall inherit it.

  29. That they may witness advantages for them and mention the name of Allah during stated days over what He has given them of the cattle quadrupeds, then eat of them and feed the distressed one, the needy.

  30. And to every nation We appointed acts of devotion that they may mention the name of Allah on what He has given them of the cattle quadrupeds; so your god is One God, therefore to Him should you submit, and give good news to the humble,

  31. (To) those whose hearts tremble when Allah is mentioned, and those who are patient under that which afflicts them, and those who keep up prayer, and spend (benevolently) out of what We have given them.

  32. And (as for) the camels, We have made them of the signs of the religion of Allah for you; for you therein is much good; therefore mention the name of Allah on them as they stand in a row, then when they fall down eat of them and feed the poor man who is contented and the beggar; thus have We made them subservient to you, that you may be grateful.

  33. Those who have been expelled from their homes without a just cause except that they say: Our Lord is Allah. And had there not been Allah's repelling some people by others, certainly there would have been pulled down cloisters and churches and synagogues and mosques in which Allah's name is much remembered; and surely Allah will help him who helps His cause; most surely Allah is Strong, Mighty.

  34. And should the truth follow their low desires, surely the heavens and the earth and all those who are therein would have perished. Nay! We have brought to them their reminder, but from their reminder they turn aside.

  35. They will say: Allah's. Say: Will you not then mind?

  36. But you took them for a mockery until they made you forget My remembrance and you used to laugh at them.

  37. (This is) a chapter which We have revealed and made obligatory and in which We have revealed clear communications that you may be mindful.

  38. O you who believe! Do not enter houses other than your own houses until you have asked permission and saluted their inmates; this is better for you, that you may be mindful.

  39. In houses which Allah has permitted to be exalted and that His name may be remembered in them; there glorify Him therein in the mornings and the evenings,

  40. Men whom neither merchandise nor selling diverts from the remembrance of Allah and the keeping up of prayer and the giving of poor-rate; they fear a day in which the hearts and eyes shall turn about;

  41. They shall say: Glory be to Thee; it was not beseeming for us that we should take any guardians besides Thee, but Thou didst make them and their fathers to enjoy until they forsook the reminder, and they were a people in perdition,

  42. Certainly he led me astray from the reminder after it had come to me; and the Shaitan fails to aid man.

  43. And certainly We have repeated this to them that they may be mindful, but the greater number of men do not consent to aught except denying.

  44. And He it is Who made the night and the day to follow each other for him who desires to be mindful or desires to be thankful.

  45. And they who, when reminded of the communications of their Lord, do not fall down thereat deaf and blind.

  46. And there does not come to them a new reminder from the Beneficent Allah but they turn aside from it.

  47. What! do you come to the males from among the creatures

  48. To remind, and We are never unjust.

  49. Except those who believe and do good and remember Allah much, and defend themselves after they are oppressed; and they who act unjustly shall know to what final place of turning they shall turn back.

  50. Or, Who answers the distressed one when he calls upon Him and removes the evil, and He will make you successors in the earth. Is there a god with Allah? Little is it that you mind!

  51. And certainly We gave Musa the Book after We had destroyed the former generations, clear arguments for men and a guidance and a mercy, that they may be mindful.

  52. And you were not on this side of the mountain when We called, but a mercy from your Lord that you may warn a people to whom no warner came before you, that they may be mindful.

  53. And certainly We have made the word to reach them so that they may be mindful.

  54. Recite that which has been revealed to you of the Book and keep up prayer; surely prayer keeps (one) away from indecency and evil, and certainly the remembrance of Allah is the greatest, and Allah knows what you do.

  55. Is it not enough for them that We have revealed to you the Book which is recited to them? Most surely there is mercy in this and a reminder for a people who believe.

  56. Allah is He Who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six periods, and He mounted the throne (of authority); you have not besides Him any guardian or any intercessor, will you not then mind?

  57. Only they believe in Our communications who, when they are reminded of them, fall down in prostration and celebrate the praise of their Lord, and they are not proud.

  58. And who is more unjust than he who is reminded of the communications of his Lord, then he turns away from them? Surely We will give punishment to the guilty.

  59. O you who believe! call to mind the favor of Allah to you when there came down upon you hosts, so We sent against them a strong wind and hosts, that you saw not, and Allah is Seeing what you do.

  60. Certainly you have in the Messenger of Allah an excellent exemplar for him who hopes in Allah and the latter day and remembers Allah much.

  61. And keep to mind what is recited in your houses of the communications of Allah and the wisdom; surely Allah is Knower of subtleties, Aware.

  62. Surely the men who submit and the women who submit, and the believing men and the believing women, and the obeying men and the obeying women, and the truthful men and the truthful women, and the patient men and the patient women and the humble men and the humble women, and the almsgiving men and the almsgiving women, and the fasting men and the fasting women, and the men who guard their private parts and the women who guard, and the men who remember Allah much and the women who remember-- Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a mighty reward.

  63. O you who believe! remember Allah, remembering frequently,

  64. O men! call to mind the favor of Allah on you; is there any creator besides Allah who gives you sustenance from the heaven and the earth? There is no god but He; whence are you then turned away?

  65. And they shall cry therein for succour: O our Lord ! take us out, we will do good deeds other than those which we used to do. Did We not preserve you alive long enough, so that he who would be mindful in it should mind? And there came to you the warner; therefore taste; because for the unjust, there is no helper.

  66. You can only warn him who follows the reminder and fears the Beneficent Allah in secret; so announce to him forgiveness and an honorable reward.

  67. They said: Your evil fortune is with you; what! if you are reminded! Nay, you are an extravagant people.

  68. And We have not taught him poetry, nor is it meet for him; it is nothing but a reminder and a plain Quran,

  69. Then those who recite, being mindful,

  70. And when they are reminded, they mind not,

  71. Will you not then mind?

  72. Had we a reminder from those of yore,

  73. Suad, I swear by the Quran, full of admonition.

  74. Has the reminder been revealed to him from among us? Nay! they are in doubt as to My reminder. Nay! they have not yet tasted My chastisement!

  75. Bear patiently what they say, and remember Our servant Dawood, the possessor of power; surely he was frequent m returning (to Allah).

  76. (It is) a Book We have revealed to you abounding in good that they may ponder over its verses, and that those endowed with understanding may be mindful.

  77. Then he said: Surely I preferred the good things to the remembrance of my Lord-- until the sun set and time for Asr prayer was over, (he said):

  78. And remember Our servant Ayyub, when he called upon his Lord: The Shaitan has afflicted me with toil and torment.

  79. And We gave him his family and the like of them with them, as a mercy from Us, and as a reminder to those possessed of understanding.

  80. And remember Our servants Ibrahim and Ishaq and Yaqoub, men of power and insight.

  81. Surely We purified them by a pure quality, the keeping m mind of the (final) abode.

  82. And remember Ismail and Al-Yasha and Zulkifl; and they were all of the best.

  83. This is a reminder; and most surely there is an excellent resort for those who guard (against evil),

  84. It is nothing but a reminder to the nations;

  85. What! he who is obedient during hours of the night, prostrating himself and standing, takes care of the hereafter and hopes for the mercy of his Lord! Say: Are those who know and those who do not know alike? Only the men of understanding are mindful.

  86. Do you not see that Allah sends down water from the cloud, then makes it go along in the earth in springs, then brings forth therewith herbage of various colors, then it withers so that you see it becoming yellow, then He makes it a thing crushed and broken into pieces? Most surely there is a reminder in this for the men of understanding.

  87. What! is he whose heart Allah has opened for Islam so that he is in a light from his Lord (like the hard-hearted)? Nay, woe to those whose hearts are hard against the remembrance of Allah; those are in clear error.

  88. Allah has revealed the best announcement, a book conformable in its various parts, repeating, whereat do shudder the skins of those who fear their Lord, then their skins and their hearts become pliant to the remembrance of Allah; this is Allah's guidance, He guides with it whom He pleases; and (as for) him whom Allah makes err, there is no guide for him.

  89. And certainly We have set forth to men in this Quran similitudes of every sort that they may mind.

  90. And when Allah alone is mentioned, the hearts of those who do not believe in the hereafter shrink, and when those besides Him are mentioned, lo! they are joyful.

  91. He it is Who shows you His signs and sends down for you sustenance from heaven, and none minds but he who turns (to Him) again and again.

  92. Whoever does an evil, he shall not be recompensed (with aught) but the like of it, and whoever does good, whether male or female, and he is a believer, these shall enter the garden, in which they shall be given sustenance without measure.

  93. So you shall remember what I say to you, and I entrust my affair to Allah, Surely Allah sees the servants.

  94. A guidance and a reminder to the men of understanding.

  95. And the blind and the seeing are not alike, nor those who believe and do good and the evil-doer; little is it that you are mindful.

  96. Surely those who disbelieve in the reminder when it comes to them, and most surely it is a Mighty Book:

  97. Allah's is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth; He creates what He pleases; He grants to whom He pleases daughters and grants to whom He pleases sons.

  98. Or He makes them of both sorts, male and female; and He makes whom He pleases barren; surely He is the Knowing, the Powerful.

  99. What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people?

  100. That you may firmly sit on their backs, then remember the favor of your Lord when you are firmly seated thereon, and say: Glory be to Him Who made this subservient to us and we were not able to do it
