Surely what you are threatened with must come to pass and you cannot escape (it).

The great fearful event shall not grieve them, and the angels shall meet them: This is your day which you were promised.

But if they turn back, say: I have given you warning in fairness and I do not know whether what you are threatened with is near or far;

Far, far is that which you are threatened with.

This is the hell with which you were threatened.

This is what you are promised for the day of reckoning.

(As for) those who say: Our Lord is Allah, then continue in the right way, the angels descend upon them, saying: Fear not, nor be grieved, and receive good news of the garden which you were promised.

This is what you were promised, (it is) for every one who turns frequently (to Allah), keeps (His limits);

What you are threatened with is most surely true,

And in the heaven is your sustenance and what you are threatened with.

Say: I do not know whether that with which you are threatened be nigh or whether my Lord will appoint for it a term:

Most surely what you are threatened with must come to pass.
