عَابِد

Appears 11 times in the Quran. (Root: عبد)
  1. (Receive) the baptism of Allah, and who is better than Allah in baptising? and Him do we serve.

  2. They who turn (to Allah), who serve (Him), who praise (Him), who fast, who bow down, who prostrate themselves, who enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil, and who keep the limits of Allah; and give good news to the believers.

  3. They said: We found our fathers worshipping them.

  4. And We made them Imams who guided (people) by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good and the keeping up of prayer and the giving of the alms, and Us (alone) did they serve;

  5. Therefore We responded to him and took off what harm he had, and We gave him his family and the like of them with them: a mercy from Us and a reminder to the worshippers.

  6. Most surely in this is a message to a people who serve

  7. And they said: What! shall we believe in two mortals like ourselves while their people serve us?

  8. Say: If the Beneficent Allah has a son, I am the foremost of those who serve.

  9. Nor do you serve Him Whom I serve:

  10. Nor am I going to serve that which you serve,

  11. Nor are you going to serve Him Whom I serve:
