  1. (But) they shall not be able to assist them, and they shall be a host brought up before them.

  2. What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?

  3. And We helped them, so they were the vanquishers.

  4. Most surely they shall be the assisted ones

  5. And return to your Lord time after time and submit to Him before there comes to you the punishment, then you shall not be helped.

  6. O my people! yours is the kingdom this day, being masters in the land, but who will help us against the punishment of Allah if it come to us? Firon said: I do not show you aught but that which I see (myself), and I do not make you follow any but the right way.

  7. Most surely We help Our messengers, and those who believe, in this world's life and on the day when the witnesses shall stand

  8. So We sent on them a furious wind in unlucky days, that We may make them taste the chastisement of abasement in this world's life; and certainly the chastisement of the hereafter is much more abasing, and they shall not be helped.

  9. And if Allah had pleased He would surely have made them a single community, but He makes whom He pleases enter into His mercy, and the unjust it is that shall have no guardian or helper.

  10. And you cannot escape in the earth, and you shall not have a guardian or a helper besides Allah.

  11. And those who, when great wrong afflicts them, defend themselves.

  12. And whoever defends himself after his being oppressed, these it is against whom there is no way (to blame).

  13. And they shall have no friends to help them besides Allah; and-- whomsoever Allah makes err, he shall have no way.

  14. The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped,

  15. And it shall be said: Today We forsake you as you neglected the meeting of this day of yours and your abode is the fire, and there are not for you any helpers:

  16. Why did not then those help them whom they took for gods besides Allah to draw (them) nigh (to Him)? Nay! they were lost to them; and this was their lie and what they forged.

  17. So when you meet in battle those who disbelieve, then smite the necks until when you have overcome them, then make (them) prisoners, and afterwards either set them free as a favor or let them ransom (themselves) until the war terminates. That (shall be so); and if Allah had pleased He would certainly have exacted what is due from them, but that He may try some of you by means of others; and (as for) those who are slain in the way of Allah, He will by no means allow their deeds to perish.

  18. O you who believe ! if you help (the cause of) Allah, He will help you and make firm your feet.

  19. And how many a town which was far more powerful than the town of yours which has driven you out: We destroyed them so there was no helper for them.

  20. And that Allah might help you with a mighty help.

  21. And if those who disbelieve fight with you, they would certainly turn (their) backs, then they would not find any protector or a helper.

  22. So they were not able to rise up, nor could they defend themselves-

  23. The day on which their struggle shall not avail them aught, nor shall they be helped.

  24. Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help.

  25. Or do they say: We are a host allied together to help each other?

  26. The flames of fire and smoke will be sent on you two, then you will not be able to defend yourselves.

  27. Certainly We sent Our messengers with clear arguments, and sent down with them the Book and the balance that men may conduct themselves with equity; and We have made the iron, wherein is great violence and advantages to men, and that Allah may know who helps Him and His messengers in the secret; surely Allah is Strong, Mighty.

  28. (It is) for the poor who fled their homes and their possessions, seeking grace of Allah and (His) pleasure, and assisting Allah and His Messenger: these it is that are the truthful.

  29. Have you not seen those who have become hypocrites? They say to those of their brethren who disbelieve from among the followers of the Book: If you are driven forth, we shall certainly go forth with you, and we will never obey any one concerning you, and if you are fought against, we will certainly help you, and Allah bears witness that they are most surely liars.

  30. Certainly if these are driven forth, they will not go forth with them, and if they are fought against, they will not help them, and even if they help-them, they will certainly turn (their) backs, then they shall not be helped.

  31. And yet another (blessing) that you love: help from Allah and a victory near at hand; and give good news to the believers.

  32. O you who believe! be helpers (in the cause) of Allah, as~ Isa son of Marium said to (his) disciples: Who are my helpers in the cause of Allah? The disciples said: We are helpers (in the cause) of Allah. So a party of the children of Israel believed and another party disbelieved; then We aided those who believed against their enemy, and they became uppermost.

  33. Or who is it that will be a host for you to assist you besides the Beneficent Allah? The unbelievers are only in deception.

  34. Because of their wrongs they were drowned, then made to enter fire, so they did not find any helpers besides Allah.

  35. Until when they see what they are threatened with, then shall they know who is weaker in helpers and fewer in number.

  36. He shall have neither strength nor helper.
