  1. Do they not consider how many a generation We have destroyed before them, whom We had established in the earth as We have not established you, and We sent the clouds pouring rain on them in abundance, and We made the rivers to flow beneath them, then We destroyed them on account of their faults and raised up after them another generation.

  2. And He it is Who has brought you into being from a single soul, then there is (for you) a resting-place and a depository; indeed We have made plain the communications for a people who understand.

  3. And your Lord is the Self-sufficient one, the Lord of mercy; if He pleases, He may take you off, and make whom He pleases successors after you, even as He raised you up from the seed of another people.

  4. And He it is Who produces gardens (of vine), trellised and untrellised, and palms and seed-produce of which the fruits are of various sorts, and olives and pomegranates, like and unlike; eat of its fruit when it bears fruit, and pay the due of it on the day of its reaping, and do not act extravagantly; surely He does not love the extravagant.

  5. And to Samood (We sent) their brother Salih. He said: O my people! serve Allah, you have no god other than He; He brought you into being from the earth, and made you dwell in it, therefore ask forgiveness of Him, then turn to Him; surely my Lord is Nigh, Answering.

  6. He it is Who shows you the lightning causing fear and hope and (Who) brings up the heavy cloud.

  7. And how many a town which was iniquitous did We demolish, and We raised up after it another people!

  8. Then We made the seed a clot, then We made the clot a lump of flesh, then We made (in) the lump of flesh bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, then We caused it to grow into another creation, so blessed be Allah, the best of the creators.

  9. Then We cause to grow thereby gardens of palm trees and grapes for you; you have in them many fruits and from them do you eat;

  10. Then We raised up after them another generation.

  11. Then We raised after them other generations.

  12. And He it is Who made for you the ears and the eyes and the hearts; little is it that you give thanks.

  13. But We raised up generations, then life became prolonged to them; and you were not dwelling among the people of Madyan, reciting to them Our communications, but We were the senders.

  14. Say: Travel in the earth and see how He makes the first creation, then Allah creates the latter creation; surely Allah has power over all things.

  15. Say: He will give life to them Who brought them into existence at first, and He is cognizant of all creation

  16. What! that which is made in ornaments and which in contention is unable to make plain speech!

  17. Those who keep aloof from the great sins and the indecencies but the passing idea; surely your Lord is liberal in forgiving. He knows you best when He brings you forth from the earth and when you are embryos in the wombs of your mothers; therefore do not attribute purity to your souls; He knows him best who guards (against evil).

  18. And that on Him is the bringing forth a second time;

  19. And His are the ships reared aloft in the sea like mountains.

  20. Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth,

  21. In order that We may bring in your place the likes of you and make you grow into what you know not.

  22. And certainly you know the first growth, why do you not then mind?

  23. Is it you that produce the trees for it, or are We the producers?

  24. Say: He it is Who brought you into being and made for you the ears and the eyes and the hearts: little is it that you give thanks.

  25. Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech.
