Appears 25 times in the Quran.

  1. Then Allah sent a crow digging up the earth so that he might show him how he should cover the dead body of his brother. He said: Woe me! do I lack the strength that I should be like this crow and cover the dead body of my brother? So he became of those who regret.

  2. Surely what you are threatened with must come to pass and you cannot escape (it).

  3. And let not those who disbelieve think that they shall come in first; surely they will not escape.

  4. So go about in the land for four months and know that you cannot weaken Allah and that Allah will bring disgrace to the unbelievers.

  5. And an announcement from Allah and His Messenger to the people on the day of the greater pilgrimage that Allah and His Messenger are free from liability to the idolaters; therefore if you repent, it will be better for you, and if you turn back, then know that you will not weaken Allah; and announce painful punishment to those who disbelieve.

  6. And they ask you: Is that true? Say: Aye! by my Lord! it is most surely the truth, and you will not escape.

  7. These shall not escape in the earth, nor shall they have any guardians besides Allah; the punishment shall be doubled for them, they could not bear to hear and they did not see.

  8. He said: Allah only will bring it to you if He please, and you will not escape:

  9. She said: O wonder! shall I bear a son when I am an extremely old woman and this my husband an extremely old man? Most surely this is a wonderful thing.

  10. Or that He may not seize them in the course of their journeys, then shall they not escape;

  11. And (as for) those who strive to oppose Our communications, they shall be the inmates of the flaming fire.

  12. Think not that those who disbelieve shall escape in the earth, and their abode is the fire; and certainly evil is the resort!

  13. Except an old woman, among those who remained behind.

  14. And you shall not escape in the earth nor in the heaven, and you have neither a protector nor a helper besides Allah.

  15. And (as for) those who strive hard in opposing Our communications, these it is for whom is a painful chastisement of an evil kind.

  16. And (as for) those who strive in opposing Our communications, they shall be caused to be brought to the chastisement.

  17. Have they not travelled in the land and seen how was the end of those before them while they were stronger than these in power? And Allah is not such that any thing in the heavens or in the earth should escape Him; surely He is Knowing, Powerful.

  18. Except an old woman (who was) amongst those who tarried.

  19. So there befell them the evil (consequences) of what they earned; and (as for) those who are unjust from among these, there shall befall them the evil (consequences) of what they earn, and they shall not escape.

  20. And you cannot escape in the earth, and you shall not have a guardian or a helper besides Allah.

  21. And whoever does not accept the-Divine caller, he shall not escape in the earth and he shall not have guardians besides Him, these are in manifest error.

  22. Then his wife came up in great grief, and she struck her face and said: An old barren woman!

  23. Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up.

  24. Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms.

  25. And that we know that we cannot escape Allah in the earth, nor can we escape Him by flight:
