  1. And take in your hand a green branch and beat her with It and do not break your oath; surely We found him patient; most excellent the servant! Surely he was frequent m returning (to Allah).

  2. Was it that we (only) took them in scorn, or have our eyes (now) turned aside from them?

  3. Now, surely, sincere obedience is due to Allah (alone) and (as for) those who take guardians besides Him, (saying), We do not serve them save that they may make us nearer to Allah, surely Allah will judge between them in that in which they differ; surely Allah does not guide him aright who is a liar, ungrateful.

  4. If Allah desire to take a son to Himself, He will surely choose those He pleases from what He has created. Glory be to Him: He is Allah, the One, the Subduer (of all).

  5. Or have they taken intercessors besides Allah? Say: what! even though they did not ever have control over anything, nor do they understand.

  6. The people of Nuh and the parties after them rejected (prophets) before them, and every nation purposed against their messenger to destroy him, and they disputed by means of the falsehood that they might thereby render null the truth, therefore I destroyed them; how was then My retribution!

  7. Have they not travelled in the earth and seen how was the end of those who were before them? Mightier than these were they in strength-- and in fortifications in the land, but Allah destroyed them for their sins; and there was not for them any defender against Allah.

  8. That was because there came to them their messengers with clear arguments, but they rejected (them), therefore Allah destroyed them; surely He is Strong, Severe in retribution.

  9. And as to Samood, We showed them the right way, but they chose error above guidance, so there overtook them the scourge of an abasing chastisement for what they earned.

  10. And (as for) those who take guardians besides Him, Allah watches over them, and you have not charge over them.

  11. Or have they taken guardians besides Him? But Allah is the Guardian, and He gives life to the dead, and He has power over all things.

  12. What! has He taken daughters to Himself of what He Himself creates and chosen you to have sons?

  13. Will they distribute the mercy of your Lord? We distribute among them their livelihood in the life of this world, and We j have exalted some of them above others in degrees, that some of them may take others in subjection; and the mercy of your Lord is better than what they amass.

  14. And We did not show them a sign but it was greater than its like, and We overtook them with chastisement that they may turn.

  15. Seize him, then drag him down into the middle of the hell;

  16. And when he comes to know of any of Our communications, he takes it for a jest; these it is that shall have abasing chastisement.

  17. Before them is hell, and there shall not avail them aught of what they earned, nor those whom they took for guardians besides Allah, and they shall have a grievous punishment.

  18. Have you then considered him who takes his low desire for his god, and Allah has made him err having knowledge and has set a seal upon his ear and his heart and put a covering upon his eye. Who can then guide him after Allah? Will you not then be mindful?

  19. That is because you took the communications of Allah for a jest and the life of this world deceived you. So on that day they shall not be brought forth from it, nor shall they be granted goodwill.

  20. Why did not then those help them whom they took for gods besides Allah to draw (them) nigh (to Him)? Nay! they were lost to them; and this was their lie and what they forged.

  21. Those who are left behind will say when you set forth for the gaining of acquisitions: Allow us (that) we may follow you. They desire to change the world of Allah. Say: By no means shall you follow us; thus did Allah say before. But they will say: Nay! you are jealous of us. Nay! they do not understand but a little.

  22. And many acquisitions which they will take; and Allah is Mighty, Wise.

  23. Allah promised you many acquisitions which you will take, then He hastened on this one for you and held back the hands of men from you, and that it may be a sign for the believers and that He may guide you on a right path.

  24. Taking what their Lord gives them; surely they were before that, the doers of good.

  25. So We seized him and his hosts and hurled them into the sea and he was blamable.

  26. But they revolted against the commandment of their Lord, so the rumbling overtook them while they saw.

  27. They rejected all Our communications, so We overtook them after the manner of a Mighty, Powerful One.

  28. The guilty shall be recognized by their marks, so they shall be seized by the forelocks and the feet.

  29. And what reason have you that you should not believe in Allah? And the Messenger calls on you that you may believe in your Lord, and indeed He has made a covenant with you if you are believers.

  30. So today ransom shall not be accepted from you nor from those who disbelieved; your abode is the fire; it is your friend and evil is the resort.

  31. They make their oaths to serve as a cover so they turn away from Allah's way; therefore they shall have an abasing chastisement.

  32. Whatever Allah has restored to His Messenger from the people of the towns, it is for Allah and for the Messenger, and for the near of kin and the orphans and the needy and the wayfarer, so that it may not be a thing taken by turns among the rich of you, and whatever the Messenger gives you, accept it, and from whatever he forbids you, keep back, and be careful of (your duty to) Allah; surely Allah is severe in retributing (evil):

  33. O you who believe! do not take My enemy and your enemy for friends: would you offer them love while they deny what has come to you of the truth, driving out the Messenger and yourselves because you believe in Allah, your Lord? If you go forth struggling hard in My path and seeking My pleasure, would you manifest love to them? And I know what you conceal and what you manifest; and whoever of you does this, he indeed has gone astray from the straight path.

  34. They make their oaths a shelter, and thus turn away from Allah's way; surely evil is that which they do.

  35. And they disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment.

  36. Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him,

  37. We would certainly have seized him by the right hand,

  38. And that He-- exalted be the majesty of our Lord-- has not taken a consort, nor a son:

  39. The Lord of the East and the West-- there is no god but He-- therefore take Him for a protector.

  40. But Firon disobeyed the messenger, so We laid on him a violent hold.

  41. Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord.

  42. Surely this is a reminder, so whoever pleases takes to his Lord a way.

  43. That is the sure day, so whoever desires may take refuge with his Lord.

  44. So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life.
