  1. Neither are the living and the dead alike. Surely Allah makes whom He pleases hear, and you cannot make those hear who are m the graves.

  2. And (as for) those who disbelieve, for them is the fire of hell; it shall not be finished with them entirely so that they should die, nor shall the chastisement thereof be lightened to them: even thus do We retribute every ungrateful one.

  3. Surely We give life to the dead, and We write down what they have sent before and their footprints, and We have recorded everything in a clear writing.

  4. And a sign to them is the dead earth: We give life to it and bring forth from it grain SQ they eat of it.

  5. What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then certainly be raised,

  6. What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment?

  7. Is it then that we are not going to die,

  8. Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised?

  9. Surely you shall die and they (too) shall surely die.

  10. Allah takes the souls at the time of their death, and those that die not during their sleep; then He withholds those on whom He has passed the decree of death and sends the others back till an appointed term; most surely there are signs in this for a people who reflect.

  11. They shall say: Our Lord! twice didst Thou make us subject to death, and twice hast Thou given us life, so we do confess our faults; is there then a way to get out?

  12. He it is Who gives life and brings death, so when He decrees an affair, He only says to it: Be, and it is.

  13. And among His signs is this, that you see the earth still, but when We send down on it the water, it stirs and swells: most surely He Who gives it life is the Giver of life to the dead; surely He has power over all things.

  14. Or have they taken guardians besides Him? But Allah is the Guardian, and He gives life to the dead, and He has power over all things.

  15. And He Who sends down water from the cloud according to a measure, then We raise to life thereby a dead country, even thus shall you be brought forth;

  16. There is no god but He; He gives life and causes death, your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of yore.

  17. There is naught but our first death and we shall not be raised again.

  18. They shall not taste therein death except the first death, and He will save them from the punishment of the hell,

  19. And (in) the variation of the night and the day, and (in) what Allah sends down of sustenance from the cloud, then gives life thereby to the earth after its death, and (in) the changing of the winds, there are signs for a people who understand.

  20. Nay! do those who have wrought evil deeds think that We will make them like those who believe and do good-- that their life and their death shall be equal? Evil it is that they judge.

  21. And they say: There is nothing but our life in this world; we live and die and nothing destroys us but time, and they have no knowledge of that; they only conjecture.

  22. Say: Allah gives you life, then He makes you die, then will He gather you to the day of resurrection wherein is no doubt, but most people do not know.

  23. Have they not considered that Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth and was not tired by their creation, is able to give life to the dead? Aye! He has surely power over all things.

  24. And those who believe say: Why has not a chapter been revealed? But when a decisive chapter is revealed, and fighting is mentioned therein you see those in whose hearts is a disease look to you with the look of one fainting because of death. Woe to them then!

  25. Surely those who disbelieve and turn away from Allah's way, then they die while they are unbelievers, Allah will by no means forgive them.

  26. O you who believe! avoid most of suspicion, for surely suspicion in some cases is a sin, and do not spy nor let some of you backbite others. Does one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? But you abhor it; and be careful of (your duty to) Allah, surely Allah is Oft-returning (to mercy), Merciful.

  27. What! when we are dead and have become dust? That is afar (from probable) return.

  28. A sustenance for the servants, and We give life thereby to a dead land; thus is the rising.

  29. And the stupor of death will come in truth; that is what you were trying to escape.

  30. Surely We give life and cause to die, and to Us is the eventual coming;

  31. And that He it is Who causes death and gives life-

  32. And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised?

  33. We have ordained death among you and We are not to be overcome,

  34. His is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth; He gives life and causes death; and He has power over all things.

  35. Know that Allah gives life to the earth after its death; indeed, We have made the communications clear to you that you may understand.

  36. Say: O you who are Jews, if you think that you are the favorites of Allah to the exclusion of other people, then invoke death If you are truthful.

  37. Say: (As for) the death from which you flee, that will surely overtake you, then you shall be sent back to the Knower of the unseen and the seen, and He will inform you of that which you did.

  38. And spend out of what We have given you before death comes to one of you, so that he should say: My Lord! why didst Thou not respite me to a near term, so that I should have given alms and been of the doers of good deeds?

  39. Who created death and life that He may try you-- which of you is best in deeds; and He is the Mighty, the Forgiving,

  40. Is not He able to give life to the dead?

  41. The living and the dead,

  42. Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave,

  43. Then therein he shall neither live nor die.
