  1. So taste, because you neglected the meeting of this day of yours; surely We forsake you; and taste the abiding chastisement for what you did.

  2. And certainly We gave the Book to Musa, so be not in doubt concerning the receiving of it, and We made it a guide for the children of Israel.

  3. Their salutation on the day that they meet Him shall be, Peace, and He has prepared for them an honourable reward.

  4. They said: Build for him a furnace, then cast him into the burning fire.

  5. And certainly We tried Sulaiman, and We put on his throne a (mere) body, so he turned (to Allah).

  6. And those who disbelieve shall be driven to hell in companies; until, when they come to it, its doors shall be opened, and the keepers of it shall say to them: Did not there come to you messengers from among you reciting to you the communications of your Lord and warning you of the meeting of this day of yours? They shall say: Yea! But the sentence of punishment was due against the unbelievers.

  7. Possessor of the highest rank, Lord of power: He makes the inspiration to light by His command upon whom He pleases of His servants, that he may warn (men) of the day of meeting.

  8. And none are made to receive it but those who are patient, and none are made to receive it but those who have a mighty good fortune.

  9. Surely they who deviate from the right way concerning Our communications are not hidden from Us. What! is he then who is cast into the fire better, or he who comes safe on the day of resurrection? Do what you like, surely He sees what you do.

  10. Now surely they are in doubt as to the meeting of their Lord; now surely He encompasses all things.

  11. But why have not bracelets of gold been put upon him, or why have there not come with him angels as companions?

  12. So leave them plunging into false discourses and sporting until they meet their day which they are threatened with.

  13. And it shall be said: Today We forsake you as you neglected the meeting of this day of yours and your abode is the fire, and there are not for you any helpers:

  14. So when you meet in battle those who disbelieve, then smite the necks until when you have overcome them, then make (them) prisoners, and afterwards either set them free as a favor or let them ransom (themselves) until the war terminates. That (shall be so); and if Allah had pleased He would certainly have exacted what is due from them, but that He may try some of you by means of others; and (as for) those who are slain in the way of Allah, He will by no means allow their deeds to perish.

  15. And the earth, We have made it plain and cast in it mountains and We have made to grow therein of all beautiful kinds,

  16. When the two receivers receive, sitting on the right and on the left.

  17. Do cast into hell every ungrateful, rebellious one,

  18. Who sets up another god with Allah, so do cast him into severe chastisement.

  19. Most surely there is a reminder in this for him who has a heart or he gives ear and is a witness.

  20. Leave them then till they meet that day of theirs wherein they shall be made to swoon (with terror):

  21. And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained.

  22. Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar!

  23. He has made the two seas to flow freely (so that) they meet together:

  24. O you who believe! do not take My enemy and your enemy for friends: would you offer them love while they deny what has come to you of the truth, driving out the Messenger and yourselves because you believe in Allah, your Lord? If you go forth struggling hard in My path and seeking My pleasure, would you manifest love to them? And I know what you conceal and what you manifest; and whoever of you does this, he indeed has gone astray from the straight path.

  25. Say: (As for) the death from which you flee, that will surely overtake you, then you shall be sent back to the Knower of the unseen and the seen, and He will inform you of that which you did.

  26. When they shall be cast therein, they shall hear a loud moaning of it as it heaves,

  27. Almost bursting for fury. Whenever a group is cast into it, its keeper shall ask them: Did there not come to you a warner?

  28. Surely I knew that I shall meet my account.

  29. Therefore leave them alone to go on with the false discourses and to sport until they come face to face with that day of theirs with which they are threatened;

  30. Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word.

  31. Though he puts forth his excuses.

  32. Therefore Allah win guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness;

  33. Then I swear by the angels who bring down the revelation,

  34. And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty,

  35. O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him.
