نَذِير

Appears 54 times in the Quran. (Root: نذر)
  1. Surely We have sent you with the truth as a bearer of good news and as a warner, and you shall not be called upon to answer for the companions of the flaming fire.

  2. O followers of the Book! indeed Our Messenger has come to you explaining to you after a cessation of the (mission of the) messengers, lest you say: There came not to us a giver of good news or a warner, so indeed there has come to you a giver of good news and a warner; and Allah has power over all things.

  3. Do they not reflect that their companion has not unsoundness in mind; he is only a plain warner.

  4. Say: I do not control any benefit or harm for my own soul except as Allah please; and had I known the unseen I would have had much of good and no evil would have touched me; I am nothing but a warner and the giver of good news to a people who believe.

  5. Say: Consider what is it that is in the heavens and the earth; and signs and warners do not avail a people who would not believe.

  6. That you shall not serve (any) but Allah; surely I am a warner for you from Him and a giver of good news,

  7. Then, it may be that you will give up part of what is revealed to you and your breast will become straitened by it because they say: Why has not a treasure been sent down upon him or an angel come with him? You are only a warner; and Allah is custodian over all things.

  8. And certainly We sent Nuh to his people: Surely I am a plain warner for you:

  9. And say: Surely I am the plain warner.

  10. And with truth have We revealed it, and with truth did it come; and We have not sent you but as the giver of good news and as a warner.

  11. Say: O people! I am only a plain warner to you.

  12. Blessed is He Who sent down the Furqan upon His servant that he may be a warner to the nations;

  13. And they say: What is the matter with this Messenger that he eats food and goes about in the markets; why has not an angel been sent down to him, so that he should have been a warner with him?

  14. And if We had pleased We would certainly have raised a warner in every town.

  15. And We have not sent you but as a giver of good news and as a warner.

  16. I am naught but a plain warner.

  17. And you were not on this side of the mountain when We called, but a mercy from your Lord that you may warn a people to whom no warner came before you, that they may be mindful.

  18. And they say: Why are not signs sent down upon him from his Lord? Say: The signs are only with Allah, and I am only a plain warner.

  19. Or do they say: He has forged it? Nay! it is the truth from your Lord that you may warn a people to whom no warner has come before you, that they may follow the right direction.

  20. O Prophet! surely We have sent you as a witness, and as a bearer of good news and as a warner,

  21. And We have not sent you but to all the men as a bearer of good news and as a warner, but most men do not know.

  22. And We never sent a warner to a town but those who led lives in ease in it said: We are surely disbelievers in what you are sent with.

  23. And We have not given them any books which they read, nor did We send to them before you a warner.

  24. Say: I exhort you only to one thing, that rise up for Allah's sake in twos and singly, then ponder: there is no madness in your fellow-citizen; he is only a warner to you before a severe chastisement.

  25. You are naught but a warner.

  26. Surely We have sent you with the truth as a bearer of good news and a warner; and there is not a people but a warner has gone among them.

  27. And they shall cry therein for succour: O our Lord ! take us out, we will do good deeds other than those which we used to do. Did We not preserve you alive long enough, so that he who would be mindful in it should mind? And there came to you the warner; therefore taste; because for the unjust, there is no helper.

  28. And they swore by Allah with the strongest of their oaths that if there came to them a warner they would be better guided than any of the nations; but when there came to them a warner it increased them in naught but aversion.

  29. Naught is revealed to me save that I am a plain warner.

  30. A herald of good news and a warner, but most of them turn aside so they hear not.

  31. And thus, We did not send before you any warner in a town, but those who led easy lives in it said: Surely we found our fathers on a course, and surely we are followers of their footsteps.

  32. Say: I am not the first of the messengers, and I do not know what will be done with me or with you: I do not follow anything but that which is revealed to me, and I am nothing but a plain warner.

  33. And mention the brother of Ad; when he warned his people in the sandy plains,-- and indeed warners came before him and after him-- saying Serve none but Allah; surely I fear for you the punishment of a grievous day.

  34. Surely We have sent you as a witness and as a bearer of good news and as a warner,

  35. Therefore fly to Allah, surely I am a plain warner to you from Him.

  36. And do not set up with Allah another god: surely I am a plain warner to you from Him.

  37. This is a warner of the warners of old.

  38. Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail;

  39. How (great) was then My punishment and My warning!

  40. Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning!

  41. How (great) was then My punishment and My warning!

  42. Samood rejected the warning.

  43. How (great) was then My punishment and My warning!

  44. The people of Lut treated the warning. as a lie.

  45. And certainly he warned them of Our violent seizure, but they obstinately disputed the warning.

  46. And certainly they endeavored to turn him from his guests, but We blinded their eyes; so taste My chastisement and My warning.

  47. So taste My chastisement and My warning.

  48. And certainly the warning came to Firon's people.

  49. Almost bursting for fury. Whenever a group is cast into it, its keeper shall ask them: Did there not come to you a warner?

  50. They shall say: Yea! indeed there came to us a warner, but we rejected (him) and said: Allah has not revealed anything, you are only in a great error.

  51. Or are you secure of those in the heaven that He should not send down upon you a punishment? Then shall you know how was My warning.

  52. Say: The knowledge (thereof is only with Allah and I am only a plain warner.

  53. He said: O my people! Surely I am a plain warner to you:
