Appears 10 times in the Quran.

  1. For those who do good is good (reward) and more (than this); and blackness or ignominy shall not cover their faces; these are the dwellers of the garden; in it they shall abide.

  2. And (as for) those who have earned evil, the punishment of an evil is the like of it, and abasement shall come upon them-- they shall have none to protect them from Allah-- as if their faces had been covered with slices of the dense darkness of night; these are the inmates of the fire; in it they shall abide.

  3. He said: Blame me not for what I forgot, and do not constrain me to a difficult thing in my affair.

  4. And as for the boy, his parents were believers and we feared lest he should make disobedience and ingratitude to come upon them:

  5. Their looks cast down, abasement shall overtake them; and they were called upon to make obeisance indeed while yet they were safe.

  6. Their eyes cast down; disgrace shall overtake them; that is the day which they were threatened with.

  7. And that persons from among men used to seek refuge with persons from among jinn, so they increased them in wrongdoing:

  8. And that when we heard the guidance, we believed in it; so whoever believes in his Lord, he should neither fear loss nor being overtaken (by disgrace):

  9. I will make a distressing punishment overtake him.

  10. Darkness shall cover them.
