  1. Our Lord! make not our hearts to deviate after Thou hast guided us aright, and grant us from Thee mercy; surely Thou art the most liberal Giver.

  2. There did Zakariya pray to his Lord; he said: My Lord! grant me from Thee good offspring; surely Thou art the Hearer of prayer.

  3. Surely Allah does not do injustice to the weight of an atom, and if it is a good deed He multiplies it and gives from Himself a great reward.

  4. And then We would certainly have given them from Ourselves a great reward.

  5. And what reason have you that you should not fight in the way of Allah and of the weak among the men and the women and the children, (of) those who say: Our Lord! cause us to go forth from this town, whose people are oppressors, and give us from Thee a guardian and give us from Thee a helper.

  6. Alif Lam Ra (This is) a Book, whose verses are made decisive, then are they made plain, from the Wise, All-aware:

  7. And say: My Lord! make me to enter a goodly entering, and cause me to go forth a goodly going forth, and grant me from near Thee power to assist (me).

  8. Rightly directing, that he might give warning of severe punishment from Him and give good news to the believers who do good that they shall have a goodly reward,

  9. When the youths sought refuge in the cave, they said: Our Lord! grant us mercy from Thee, and provide for us a right course in our affair.

  10. Then they found one from among Our servants whom We had granted mercy from Us and whom We had taught knowledge from Ourselves.

  11. He said: If I ask you about anything after this, keep me not in your company; indeed you shall have (then) found an excuse in my case.

  12. And surely I fear my cousins after me, and my wife is barren, therefore grant me from Thyself an heir,

  13. And tenderness from Us and purity, and he was one who guarded (against evil),

  14. Thus do We relate to you (some) of the news of what has gone before; and indeed We have given to you a Reminder from Ourselves.

  15. Had We wished to make a diversion, We would have made it from before Ourselves: by no means would We do (it).

  16. And most surely you are made to receive the Quran from the Wise, the Knowing Allah.

  17. And they say: If we follow the guidance with you, we shall be carried off from our country. What ! have We not settled them in a safe, sacred territory to which fruits of every kind shall be drawn?-- a sustenance from Us; but most of them do not know.
