  1. Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Messenger have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection.

  2. And of them there are those who blame you with respect to the alms; so if they are given from it they are pleased, and if they are not given from it, lo! they are full of rage.

  3. And as to those who are made happy, they shall be in the garden, abiding in it as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except as your Lord please; a gift which shall never be cut off.

  4. All do We aid-- these as well as those-- out of the bounty of your Lord, and the bounty of your Lord is not confined.

  5. He said: Our Lord is He Who gave to everything its creation, then guided it (to its goal).

  6. This is Our free gift, therefore give freely or withhold, without reckoning.

  7. And gives a little and (then) withholds.

  8. But they called their companion, so he took (the sword) and slew (her).

  9. A reward from your Lord, a gift according to a reckoning:

  10. Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil),

  11. And soon will your Lord give you so that you shall be well pleased.
