  1. So they slew the she-camel and revolted against their Lord's commandment, and they said: O Salih! bring us what you threatened us with, if you are one of the messengers.

  2. Therefore when they revoltingly persisted in what they had been forbidden, We said to them: Be (as) apes, despised and hated.

  3. He said: O my Lord! when shall I have a son, and my wife is barren, and I myself have reached indeed the extreme degree of old age?

  4. Then We will most certainly draw forth from every sect of them him who is most exorbitantly rebellious against the Beneficent Allah.

  5. And those who do not hope for Our meeting, say: Why have not angels been sent down upon us, or (why) do we not see our Lord? Now certainly they are too proud of themselves and have revolted in great revolt.

  6. But they revolted against the commandment of their Lord, so the rumbling overtook them while they saw.

  7. And how many a town which rebelled against the commandment of its Lord and His messengers, so We called it to account severely and We chastised it (with) a stern chastisement.

  8. Or who is it that will give you sustenance if He should withhold His sustenance? Nay! they persist in disdain and aversion.

  9. And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast.
