  1. And when they meet those who believe, they say: We believe; and when they are alone with their Shaitans, they say: Surely we are with you, we were only mocking.

  2. Allah shall pay them back their mockery, and He leaves them alone in their inordinacy, blindly wandering on.

  3. And when Musa said to his people: Surely Allah commands you that you should sacrifice a cow; they said: Do you ridicule us? He said: I seek the protection of Allah from being one of the ignorant.

  4. And when you divorce women and they reach their prescribed time, then either retain them in good fellowship or set them free with liberality, and do not retain them for injury, so that you exceed the limits, and whoever does this, he indeed is unjust to his own soul; and do not take Allah's communications for a mockery, and remember the favor of Allah upon you, and that which He has revealed to you of the Book and the Wisdom, admonishing you thereby; and be careful (of your duty to) Allah, and know that Allah is the Knower of all things.

  5. And indeed He has revealed to you in the Book that when you hear Allah's communications disbelieved in and mocked at do not sit with them until they enter into some other discourse; surely then you would be like them; surely Allah will gather together the hypocrites and the unbelievers all in hell.

  6. O you who believe! do not take for guardians those who take your religion for a mockery and a joke, from among those who were given the Book before you and the unbelievers; and be careful of (your duty to) Allah if you are believers.

  7. And when you call to prayer they make it a mockery and a joke; this is because they are a people who do not understand.

  8. So they have indeed rejected the truth when it came to them; therefore the truth of what they mocked at will shine upon them.

  9. And certainly messengers before you were mocked at, but that which they mocked at encompassed the scoffers among them.

  10. The hypocrites fear lest a chapter should be sent down to them telling them plainly of what is in their hearts. Say: Go on mocking, surely Allah will bring forth what you fear.

  11. And if you should question them, they would certainly say: We were only idly discoursing and sporting. Say: Was it at Allah and His communications and His Messenger that you mocked?

  12. And if We hold back from them the punishment until a stated period of time, they will certainly say: What prevents it? Now surely on the day when it will come to them, it shall not be averted from them and that which they scoffed at shall beset them.

  13. And messengers before you were certainly mocked at, but I gave respite to those who disbelieved, then I destroyed them; how then was My requital (of evil)?

  14. And there never came a messenger to them but they mocked him.

  15. Surely We will suffice you against the scoffers

  16. So the evil (consequences) of what they did shall afflict them and that which they mocked shall encompass them.

  17. And We do not send messengers but as givers of good news and warning, and those who disbelieve make a false contention that they may render null thereby the truth, and they take My communications and that with which they are warned for a mockery.

  18. Thus it is that their recompense is hell, because they disbelieved and held My communications and My messengers in mockery.

  19. And when those who disbelieve see you, they do not take you but for one to be scoffed at: Is this he who speaks of your gods? And they are deniers at the mention of the Beneficent Allah.

  20. And certainly messengers before you were scoffed at, then there befell those of them who scoffed that at which they had scoffed.

  21. And when they see you, they do not take you for aught but a mockery: Is this he whom Allah has raised to be an messenger?

  22. So they have indeed rejected (the truth), therefore the news of that which they mock shall soon come to them.

  23. Then evil was the end of those who did evil, because they | rejected the communications of Allah and used to mock them.

  24. And of men is he who takes instead frivolous discourse to lead astray from Allah's path without knowledge, and to take it for a mockery; these shall have an abasing chastisement.

  25. Alas for the servants! there comes not to them an messenger but they mock at him.

  26. And the evil (consequences) of what they wrought shall become plain to them, and the very thing they mocked at shall beset them.

  27. Then when their messengers came to them with clear arguments, they exulted in what they had with them of knowledge, and there beset them that which they used to mock.

  28. And there came not to them a prophet but they mocked at him.

  29. And when he comes to know of any of Our communications, he takes it for a jest; these it is that shall have abasing chastisement.

  30. And the evil (consequences) of what they did shall become manifest to them and that which they mocked shall encompass them.

  31. That is because you took the communications of Allah for a jest and the life of this world deceived you. So on that day they shall not be brought forth from it, nor shall they be granted goodwill.

  32. And certainly We had established them in what We have not established you in, and We had given-- them ears and eyes and hearts, but neither their ears, nor their eyes, nor their hearts availed them aught, since they denied the communications of Allah, and that which they mocked encompassed them.
