Appears 10 times in the Quran. (Root: وعد)
  1. Say: As for him who remains in error, the Beneficent Allah will surely prolong his length of days, until they see what they were threatened with, either the punishment or the hour; then they shall know who is in more evil plight and weaker in forces

  2. Say: O my Lord! if Thou shouldst make me see what they are threatened with:

  3. Then there comes to them that with which they are threatened,

  4. So leave them plunging into false discourses and sporting until they meet their day which they are threatened with.

  5. These are they from whom We accept the best of what they have done and pass over their evil deeds, among the dwellers of the garden; the promise of truth which they were promised.

  6. Therefore bear up patiently as did the messengers endowed with constancy bear up with patience and do not seek to hasten for them (their doom). On the day that they shall see what they are promised they shall be as if they had not tarried save an hour of the day. A sufficient exposition! Shall then any be destroyed save the transgressing people?

  7. Therefore woe to those who disbelieve because of their day which they are threatened with.

  8. Therefore leave them alone to go on with the false discourses and to sport until they come face to face with that day of theirs with which they are threatened;

  9. Their eyes cast down; disgrace shall overtake them; that is the day which they were threatened with.

  10. Until when they see what they are threatened with, then shall they know who is weaker in helpers and fewer in number.
