Appears 12 times in the Quran. (Root: كفر)
  1. And if We make man taste mercy from Us, then take it off from him, most surely he is despairing, ungrateful.

  2. Surely the squanderers are the fellows of the Shaitans and the Shaitan is ever ungrateful to his Lord.

  3. And when distress afflicts you in the sea, away go those whom you call on except He; but when He brings you safe to the land, you turn aside; and man is ever ungrateful.

  4. Surely Allah will defend those who believe; surely Allah does not love any one who is unfaithful, ungrateful.

  5. And He it is Who has brought you to life, then He will cause you to die, then bring you to life (again); most surely man is ungrateful.

  6. And when a wave like mountains covers them they call upon Allah, being sincere to Him in obedience, but when He brings them safe to the land, some of them follow the middle course; and none denies Our signs but every perfidious, ungrateful one.

  7. This We requited them with because they disbelieved; and We do not punish any but the ungrateful.

  8. And (as for) those who disbelieve, for them is the fire of hell; it shall not be finished with them entirely so that they should die, nor shall the chastisement thereof be lightened to them: even thus do We retribute every ungrateful one.

  9. But if they turn aside, We have not sent you as a watcher over them; on you is only to deliver (the message); and surely when We make man taste mercy from Us, he rejoices thereat; and if an evil afflicts them on account of what their hands have already done, then-surely man is ungrateful.

  10. And they assign to Him a part of His servants; man, to be sure, is clearly ungrateful.

  11. Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful.

  12. Therefore wait patiently for the command of your Lord, and obey not from among them a sinner or an ungrateful one.
