  1. O you who believe! retaliation is prescribed for you in the matter of the slain, the free for the free, and the slave for the slave, and the female for the female, but if any remission is made to any one by his (aggrieved) brother, then prosecution (for the bloodwit) should be made according to usage, and payment should be made to him in a good manner; this is an alleviation from your Lord and a mercy; so whoever exceeds the limit after this he shall have a painful chastisement.

  2. And among men is he who sells himself to seek the pleasure of Allah; and Allah is Affectionate to the servants.

  3. And do not marry the idolatresses until they believe, and certainly a believing maid is better than an idolatress woman, even though she should please you; and do not give (believing women) in marriage to idolaters until they believe, and certainly a believing servant is better than an idolater, even though he should please you; these invite to the fire, and Allah invites to the garden and to forgiveness by His will, and makes clear His communications to men, that they may be mindful.

  4. Say:Shall}I tell you what is better than these? For those who guard (against evil) are gardens with their Lord, beneath which rivers flow, to abide in them, and pure mates and Allah's pleasure; and Allah sees the servants.

  5. But if they dispute with you, say: I have submitted myself entirely to Allah and (so) every one who follows me; and say to those who have been given the Book and the unlearned people: Do you submit yourselves? So if they submit then indeed they follow the right way; and if they turn back, then upon you is only the delivery of the message and Allah sees the servants.

  6. On the day that every soul shall find present what it has done of good and what it has done of evil, it shall wish that between it and that (evil) there were a long duration of time; and Allah makes you to be cautious of (retribution from) Himself; and Allah is Compassionate to the servants.

  7. It is not meet for a mortal that Allah should give him the Book and the wisdom and prophethood, then he should say to men: Be my servants rather than Allah's; but rather (he would say): Be worshippers of the Lord because of your teaching the Book and your reading (it yourselves).

  8. This is for what your own hands have sent before and because Allah is not in the least unjust to the servants.

  9. The Messiah does by no means disdain that he should be a servant of Allah, nor do the angels who are near to Him, and whoever disdains His service and is proud, He will gather them all together to Himself.

  10. Surely those whom you call on besides Allah are in a state of subjugation like yourselves; therefore call on them, then let them answer you if you are truthful.

  11. This is for what your own hands have sent on before, and because Allah is not in the least unjust to the servants;

  12. Allah sets forth a parable: (consider) a slave, the property of another, (who) has no power over anything, and one whom We have granted from Ourselves a goodly sustenance so he spends from it secretly and openly; are the two alike? (All) praise is due to Allah! Nay, most of them do not know.

  13. The offspring of those whom We bore with Nuh; surely he was a grateful servant.

  14. So when the promise for the first of the two came, We sent over you Our servants, of mighty prowess, so they went to and fro among the houses, and it was a promise to be accomplished.

  15. Then they found one from among Our servants whom We had granted mercy from Us and whom We had taught knowledge from Ourselves.

  16. He said: Surely I am a servant of Allah; He has given me the Book and made me a prophet;

  17. There is no one in the heavens and the earth but will come to the Beneficent Allah as a servant.

  18. And they say: The Beneficent Allah has taken to Himself a ! son. Glory be to Him. Nay! they are honored servants

  19. This is due to what your two hands have sent before, and because Allah is not in the least unjust to the servants.

  20. And the servants of the Beneficent Allah are they who walk on the earth in humbleness, and when the ignorant address them, they say: Peace.

  21. Do they not then consider what is before them and what is behind them of the heaven and the earth? If We please We will make them disappear in the land or bring down upon them a portion from the heaven; most surely there is a sign in this for every servant turning (to Allah).

  22. Alas for the servants! there comes not to them an messenger but they mock at him.

  23. Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones.

  24. Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones.

  25. But not the servants of Allah, the purified ones.

  26. But not so the servants of Allah, the purified ones.

  27. We would certainly have been the servants of Allah-- the purified ones.

  28. And We gave to Dawood Sulaiman, most excellent the servant! Surely he was frequent in returning (to Allah).

  29. And take in your hand a green branch and beat her with It and do not break your oath; surely We found him patient; most excellent the servant! Surely he was frequent m returning (to Allah).

  30. Say: O my servants who believe! be careful of (your duty to) your Lord; for those who do good in this world is good, and Allah's earth is spacious; only the patient will be paid back their reward in full without measure.

  31. They shall have coverings of fire above them and coverings beneath them; with that Allah makes His servants to fear, so be careful of (your duty to) Me, O My servants!

  32. And (as for) those who keep off from the worship of the idols and turn to Allah, they shall have good news, therefore give good news to My servants,

  33. The like of what befell the people of Nuh and Ad and Samood and those after them, and Allah does not desire injustice for (His) servants;

  34. So you shall remember what I say to you, and I entrust my affair to Allah, Surely Allah sees the servants.

  35. Those who were proud shall say: Surely we are all in it: surely Allah has judged between the servants.

  36. Whoever does good, it is for his own soul, and whoever does evil, it is against it; and your Lord is not in the least unjust to the servants.

  37. And they make the angels-- them who are the servants of the Beneficent Allah-- female (divinities). What! did they witness their creation? Their evidence shall be written down and they shall be questioned.

  38. He was naught but a servant on whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the children of Israel.

  39. O My servants! there is no fear for you this day, nor shall you grieve.

  40. Saying: Deliver to me the servants of Allah, surely I am a faithful messenger to you,

  41. To give sight and as a reminder to every servant who turns frequently (to Allah).

  42. A sustenance for the servants, and We give life thereby to a dead land; thus is the rising.

  43. My word shall not be changed, nor am I in the least unjust to the servants.

  44. Allah sets forth an example to those who disbelieve the wife of Nuh and the wife of Lut: they were both under two of Our righteous servants, but they acted treacherously towards them so they availed them naught against Allah, and it was said: Enter both the fire with those who enter.

  45. And that when the servant of Allah stood up calling upon Him, they wellnigh crowded him (to death).

  46. A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth.

  47. A servant when he prays?
