Appears 12 times in the Quran. (Root: بصر)
  1. Their parable is like the parable of one who kindled a fire but when it had illumined all around him, Allah took away their light, and left them in utter darkness-- they do not see.

  2. And certainly We have created for hell many of the jinn and the men; they have hearts with which they do not understand, and they have eyes with which they do not see, and they have ears with which they do not hear; they are as cattle, nay, they are in worse errors; these are the heedless ones.

  3. Have they feet with which they walk, or have they hands with which they hold, or have they eyes with which they see, or have they ears with which they hear? Say: Call your associates, then make a struggle (to prevail) against me and give me no respite.

  4. And if you invite them to guidance, they do not hear; and you see them looking towards you, yet they do not see.

  5. And there are those of them who look at you, but can you show the way to the blind though they will not see?

  6. These shall not escape in the earth, nor shall they have any guardians besides Allah; the punishment shall be doubled for them, they could not bear to hear and they did not see.

  7. Do they not see that We drive the water to a land having no herbage, then We bring forth thereby seed-produce of which their cattle and they themselves eat; will they not then see?

  8. And We have made before them a barrier and a barrier behind them, then We have covered them over so that they do not see.

  9. And if We please We would certainly put out their eyes, then they would run about groping for the way, but how should they see?

  11. And (then) see, for they too shall see.

  12. So you shall see, and they (too) shall see,
