ذِكْر

Appears 61 times in the Quran. (Root: ذكر)
  1. So when you have performed your devotions, then laud Allah as you lauded your fathers, rather a greater lauding. But there are some people who say, Our Lord! give us in the world, and they shall have no resting place.

  2. This We recite to you of the communications and the wise reminder.

  3. The Shaitan only desires to cause enmity and hatred to spring in your midst by means of intoxicants and games of chance, and to keep you off from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer. Will you then desist?

  4. What! do you wonder that a reminder has come to you from your Lord through a man from among you, that he might warn you and that you might guard (against evil) and so that mercy may be shown to you?

  5. What! do you wonder that a reminder has come to you from your Lord through a man from among you that he might warn you? And remember when He made you successors after Nuh's people and increased you in excellence in respect of make; therefore remember the benefits of Allah, that you may be successful.

  6. And he said to him whom he knew would be delivered of the two: Remember me with your lord; but the Shaitan caused him to forget mentioning (it) to his lord, so he remained in the prison a few years.

  7. And you do not ask them for a reward for this; it is nothing but a reminder for all mankind.

  8. Those who believe and whose hearts are set at rest by the remembrance of Allah; now surely by Allah's remembrance are the hearts set at rest.

  9. And they say: O you to whom the Reminder has been revealed! you are most surely insane:

  10. Surely We have revealed the Reminder and We will most surely be its guardian.

  11. And We did not send before you any but men to whom We sent revelation-- so ask the followers of the Reminder if you do not know--

  12. With clear arguments and scriptures; and We have revealed to you the Reminder that you may make clear to men what has been revealed to them, and that haply they may reflect.

  13. He said: If you would follow me, then do not question me about any thing until I myself speak to you about it

  14. And they ask you about Zulqarnain. Say: I will recite to you an account of him.

  15. A mention of the mercy of your Lord to His servant Zakariya.

  16. Thus do We relate to you (some) of the news of what has gone before; and indeed We have given to you a Reminder from Ourselves.

  17. And thus have We sent it down an Arabic Quran, and have distinctly set forth therein of threats that they may guard (against evil) or that it may produce a reminder for them.

  18. There comes not to them a new reminder from their Lord but they hear it while they sport,

  19. And We did not send before you any but men to whom We sent revelation, so ask the followers of the reminder if you do not

  20. Or, have they taken gods besides Him? Say: Bring your proof; this is the reminder of those with me and the reminder of those before me. Nay! most of them do not know the truth, so they turn aside.

  21. And when those who disbelieve see you, they do not take you but for one to be scoffed at: Is this he who speaks of your gods? And they are deniers at the mention of the Beneficent Allah.

  22. Say: Who guards you by night and by day from the Beneficent Allah? Nay, they turn aside at the mention of their Lord.

  23. And certainly We gave to Musa and Haroun the Furqan and a light and a reminder for those who would guard (against evil).

  24. And this is a blessed Reminder which We have revealed; will you then deny it?

  25. And certainly We wrote in the Book after the reminder that (as for) the land, My righteous servants shall inherit it.

  26. Men whom neither merchandise nor selling diverts from the remembrance of Allah and the keeping up of prayer and the giving of poor-rate; they fear a day in which the hearts and eyes shall turn about;

  27. They shall say: Glory be to Thee; it was not beseeming for us that we should take any guardians besides Thee, but Thou didst make them and their fathers to enjoy until they forsook the reminder, and they were a people in perdition,

  28. Certainly he led me astray from the reminder after it had come to me; and the Shaitan fails to aid man.

  29. And there does not come to them a new reminder from the Beneficent Allah but they turn aside from it.

  30. Recite that which has been revealed to you of the Book and keep up prayer; surely prayer keeps (one) away from indecency and evil, and certainly the remembrance of Allah is the greatest, and Allah knows what you do.

  31. O you who believe! remember Allah, remembering frequently,

  32. You can only warn him who follows the reminder and fears the Beneficent Allah in secret; so announce to him forgiveness and an honorable reward.

  33. And We have not taught him poetry, nor is it meet for him; it is nothing but a reminder and a plain Quran,

  34. Then those who recite, being mindful,

  35. Had we a reminder from those of yore,

  36. Suad, I swear by the Quran, full of admonition.

  37. Has the reminder been revealed to him from among us? Nay! they are in doubt as to My reminder. Nay! they have not yet tasted My chastisement!

  38. Then he said: Surely I preferred the good things to the remembrance of my Lord-- until the sun set and time for Asr prayer was over, (he said):

  39. This is a reminder; and most surely there is an excellent resort for those who guard (against evil),

  40. It is nothing but a reminder to the nations;

  41. What! is he whose heart Allah has opened for Islam so that he is in a light from his Lord (like the hard-hearted)? Nay, woe to those whose hearts are hard against the remembrance of Allah; those are in clear error.

  42. Allah has revealed the best announcement, a book conformable in its various parts, repeating, whereat do shudder the skins of those who fear their Lord, then their skins and their hearts become pliant to the remembrance of Allah; this is Allah's guidance, He guides with it whom He pleases; and (as for) him whom Allah makes err, there is no guide for him.

  43. Surely those who disbelieve in the reminder when it comes to them, and most surely it is a Mighty Book:

  44. What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people?

  45. And whoever turns himself away from the remembrance of the Beneficent Allah, We appoint for him a Shaitan, so he becomes his associate.

  46. And most surely it is a reminder for you and your people, and you shall soon be questioned.

  47. And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind?

  48. And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind?

  49. Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar!

  50. And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind?

  51. And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind?

  52. Has not the time yet come for those who believe that their hearts should be humble for the remembrance of Allah and what has come down of the truth? And that they should not be like those who were given the Book before, but the time became prolonged to them, so their hearts hardened, and most of them are transgressors.

  53. The Shaitan has gained the mastery over them, so he has made them forget the remembrance of Allah; they are the Shaitan's party; now surely the Shaitan's party are the losers.

  54. O you who believe! when the call is made for prayer on Friday, then hasten to the remembrance of Allah and leave off trading; that is better for you, if you know.

  55. O you who believe! let not your wealth, or your children, divert you from the remembrance of Allah; and whoever does that, these are the losers.

  56. Allah has prepared for them severe chastisement, therefore be careful of (your duty to) Allah, O men of understanding who believe! Allah has indeed revealed to you a reminder,

  57. And those who disbelieve would almost smite you with their eyes when they hear the reminder, and they say: Most surely he is mad. Those who disbelieved show their ridicule in their eyes when they hear the message and say, "He is crazy!"

  58. And it is naught but a reminder to the nations. It is in fact a message to the world.

  59. So that We might try them with respect to it; and whoever turns aside from the reminder of his Lord, He will make him enter into an afflicting chastisement:

  60. Then I swear by the angels who bring down the revelation,

  61. It is naught but a reminder for the nations,
