  1. They said: Call on your Lord for our sake to make it plain to us what she is, for surely to us the cows are all alike, and if Allah please we shall surely be guided aright.

  2. Surely We have sent you with the truth as a bearer of good news and as a warner, and you shall not be called upon to answer for the companions of the flaming fire.

  3. Who, when a misfortune befalls them, say: Surely we are Allah's and to Him we shall surely return.

  4. Surely We have revealed the Book to you with the truth that you may judge between people by means of that which Allah has taught you; and be not an advocate on behalf of the treacherous.

  5. Surely We have revealed to you as We revealed to Nuh, and the prophets after him, and We revealed to Ibrahim and Ismail and Ishaq and Yaqoub and the tribes, and Isa and Ayub and Yunus and Haroun and Sulaiman and We gave to Dawood

  6. Surely We revealed the Taurat in which was guidance and light; with it the prophets who submitted themselves (to Allah) judged (matters) for those who were Jews, and the masters of Divine knowledge and the doctors, because they were required to guard (part) of the Book of Allah, and they were witnesses thereof; therefore fear not the people and fear Me, and do not take a small price for My communications; and whoever did not judge by what Allah revealed, those are they that are the unbelievers.

  7. O you who believe! call to witness between you when death draws nigh to one of you, at the time of making the will, two just persons from among you, or two others from among others than you, if you are travelling in the land and the calamity of death befalls you; the two (witnesses) you should detain after the prayer; then if you doubt (them), they shall both swear by Allah, (saying): We will not take for it a price, though there be a relative, and we will not hide the testimony of Allah for then certainly we should be among the sinners.

  8. Then if it becomes known that they both have been guilty of a sin, two others shall stand up in their place from among those who have a claim against them, the two nearest in kin; so they two should swear by Allah: Certainly our testimony is truer than the testimony of those two, and we have not exceeded the limit, for then most surely we should be of the unjust.

  9. They said: Surely to our Lord shall we go back:

  10. And if they were content with what Allah and His Messenger gave them, and had said: Allah is sufficient for us; Allah will soon give us (more) out of His grace and His Messenger too; surely to Allah do we make our petition.

  11. But when he saw that their hands were not extended towards it, he deemed them strange and conceived fear of them. . They said: Fear not, surely we are sent to Lut's people.

  12. Surely We have revealed it-- an Arabic Quran-- that you may understand.

  13. They said: Surely if the wolf should devour him notwithstanding that we are a (strong) company, we should then certainly be losers.

  14. He said: Allah protect us that we should seize other than him with whom we found our property, for then most surely we would be unjust.

  15. They said: Surely we are sent towards a guilty people,

  16. And say: The truth is from your Lord, so let him who please believe, and let him who please disbelieve; surely We have prepared for the iniquitous a fire, the curtains of which shall encompass them about; and if they cry for water, they shall be given water like molten brass which will scald their faces; evil the drink and ill the resting-place.

  17. What! do then those who disbelieve think that they can take My servants to be guardians besides Me? Surely We have prepared hell for the entertainment of the unbelievers.

  18. Surely we believe in our Lord that He may forgive us our sins and the magic to which you compelled us; and Allah is better and more abiding.

  19. They said: No harm; surely to our Lord we go back;

  20. O Prophet! surely We have sent you as a witness, and as a bearer of good news and as a warner,

  21. O Prophet! surely We have made lawful to you your wives whom you have given their dowries, and those whom your right hand possesses out of those whom Allah has given to you as prisoners of war, and the daughters of your paternal uncles and the daughters of your paternal aunts, and the daughters of your maternal uncles and the daughters of your maternal aunts who fled with you; and a believing woman if she gave herself to the Prophet, if the Prophet desired to marry her-- specially for you, not for the (rest of) believers; We know what We have ordained for them concerning their wives and those whom their right hands possess in order that no blame may attach to you; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

  22. And they shall say: O our Lord! surely we obeyed our leaders and our great men, so they led us astray from the path;

  23. Say: Who gives you the sustenance from the heavens and the earth? Say: Allah. And most surely we or you are on a right way or in manifest error

  24. Surely We have sent you with the truth as a bearer of good news and a warner; and there is not a people but a warner has gone among them.

  25. When We sent to them two, they rejected both of them, then We strengthened (them) with a third, so they said: Surely we are messengers to you.

  26. They said: Our Lord knows that we are most surely messengers to you.

  27. Surely We purified them by a pure quality, the keeping m mind of the (final) abode.

  28. Surely We have revealed to you the Book with the truth, therefore serve Allah, being sincere to Him in obedience.

  29. Surely We have revealed to you the Book with the truth for the sake of men; so whoever follows the right way, it is for his own soul and whoever errs, he errs only to its detriment; and you are not a custodian over them.

  30. But if they turn aside, We have not sent you as a watcher over them; on you is only to deliver (the message); and surely when We make man taste mercy from Us, he rejoices thereat; and if an evil afflicts them on account of what their hands have already done, then-surely man is ungrateful.

  31. And surely to our Lord we must return.

  32. Surely We revealed it on a blessed night surely We are ever warning--

  33. Surely We have sent you as a witness and as a bearer of good news and as a warner,

  34. And whoever does not believe in Allah and His Messenger, then surely We have prepared burning fire for the unbelievers.

  35. They said: Surely we are sent to a guilty people,

  36. Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck

  37. So they said: What! a single mortal from among us! Shall we follow him? Most surely we shall in that case be in sure error and distress:

  38. Surely We sent upon them a single cry, so they were like the dry fragments of trees which the maker of an enclosure collects.

  39. Surely We sent upon them a stonestorm, except Lut's followers; We saved them a little before daybreak,

  40. Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth,

  41. Maybe, our Lord will give us instead one better than it; surely to our Lord do we make our humble petition.

  42. Surely We sent Nuh to his people, saying: Warn your people before there come upon them a painful chastisement.

  43. Surely We have sent to you a Messenger, a witness against you, as We sent a messenger to Firon.

  44. Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire.

  45. Surely We have warned you of a chastisement near at hand: the day when man shall see what his two hands have sent before, and the unbeliever shall say: O! would that I were dust!

  46. Surely We revealed it on the grand night.

  47. Surely We have given you Kausar,
