عِزَّة

Appears 8 times in the Quran. (Root: عزز)
  1. And when it is said to him, guard against (the punish ment of) Allah; pride carries him off to sin, therefore hell is sufficient for him; and certainly it is an evil resting place.

  2. Those who take the unbelievers for guardians rather than believers. Do they seek honor from them? Then surely all honor is for Allah.

  3. And let not their speech grieve you; surely might is wholly Allah's; He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

  4. So they cast down their cords and their rods and said: By Firon's power, we shall most surely be victorious.

  5. Whoever desires honor, then to Allah belongs the honor wholly. To Him do ascend the good words; and the good deeds, lift them up, and (as for) those who plan evil deeds, they shall have a severe chastisement; and (as for) their plan, it shall perish.

  6. Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of Honor, above what they describe.

  7. Nay! those who disbelieve are in self-exaltation and opposition.

  8. They say: If we return to Medina, the mighty will surely drive out the meaner therefrom; and to Allah belongs the might and to His Messenger and to the believers, but the hypocrites do not know.
