أَبٌهِ

Appears 10 times in the Quran. (Root: ابو)
  1. And when Ibrahim said to his sire, Azar: Do you take idols for gods? Surely I see you and your people in manifest error.

  2. And Ibrahim asking forgiveness for his sire was only owing to a promise which he had made to him; but when it became clear to him that he was an enemy of Allah, he declared himself to be clear of him; most surely Ibrahim was very tender-hearted forbearing.

  3. When Yusuf said to his father: O my father! surely I saw eleven stars and the sun and the moon-- I saw them making obeisance to me.

  4. When he said to his father; O my father! why do you worship what neither hears nor sees, nor does it avail you in the least:

  5. When he said to his father and his people: What are these images to whose worship you cleave?

  6. When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship?

  7. When he said to his father and his people: What is it that you worship?

  8. And when Ibrahim said to his father and his people: Surely I am clear of what you worship,

  9. Indeed, there is for you a good example in Ibrahim and those with him when they said to their people: Surely we are clear of you and of what you serve besides Allah; we declare ourselves to be clear of you, and enmity and hatred have appeared between us and you forever until you believe in Allah alone-- but not in what Ibrahim said to his father: I would certainly ask forgiveness for you, and I do not control for you aught from Allah-- Our Lord! on Thee do we rely, and to Thee do we turn, and to Thee is the eventual coming:
