Appears 7 times in the Quran. (Root: كره)
  1. The chiefs, those who were proud from among his people said: We will most certainly turn you out, O Shu'aib, and (also; those who believe with you, from our town, or you shall come back to our faith. He said: What! though we dislike (it)?

  2. Even as your Lord caused you to go forth from your house with the truth, though a party of the believers were surely averse;

  3. Certainly they sought (to sow) dissension before, and they meditated plots against you until the truth came, and Allah's commandment prevailed although they were averse (from it).

  4. And nothing hinders their spendings being accepted from them, except that they disbelieve in Allah and in His Messenger and they do not come to prayer but while they are sluggish, and they do not spend but while they are unwilling.

  5. He said: O my people! tell me if I have with me clear proof from my Lord, and He has granted me mercy from Himself and it has been made obscure to you; shall we constrain you to (accept) it while you are averse from it?

  6. Or do they say: There is madness in him? Nay! he has brought them the truth, and most of them are averse from the truth.

  7. Certainly We have brought you the truth, but most of you are averse to the truth.
