سَآءَ

Appears 18 times in the Quran. (Root: سوا)
  1. And marry not woman whom your fathers married, except what has already passed; this surely is indecent and hateful, and it is an evil way.

  2. And those who spend their property (in alms) to be seen of the people and do not believe in Allah nor in the last day; and as for him whose associate is the Shaitan, an evil associate is he!

  3. And if they had kept up the Taurat and the Injeel and that which was revealed to them from their Lord, they would certainly have eaten from above them and from beneath their feet there is a party of them keeping to the moderate course, and (as for) most of them, evil is that which they do

  4. They are losers indeed who reject the meeting of Allah; until when the hour comes upon them all of a sudden they shall say: O our grief for our neglecting it! and they shall bear their burdens on their backs; now surely evil is that which they bear.

  5. And they set apart a portion for Allah out of what He has created of tilth and cattle, and say: This is for Allah-- so they assert-- and this for our associates; then what is for their associates, it reaches not to Allah, and whatever is (set apart) for Allah, it reaches to their associates; evil is that which they judge.

  6. Evil is the likeness of the people who reject Our communications and are unjust to their own souls.

  7. They have taken a small price for the communications of Allah, so they turn away from His way; surely evil is it that they do.

  8. That they may bear their burdens entirely on the day of resurrection and also of the burdens of those whom they lead astray without knowledge; now surely evil is what they bear.

  9. He hides himself from the people because of the evil of that which is announced to him. Shall he keep it with disgrace or bury it (alive) in the dust? Now surely evil is what they judge.

  10. And go not nigh to fornication; surely it is an indecency and an evil way.

  11. Abiding in this (state), and evil will it be for them to bear on the day of resurrection;

  12. And We rained down upon them a rain, and evil was the rain on those warned.

  13. And We rained on them a rain, and evil was the rain of those who had been warned.

  14. Or do they who work evil think that they will escape Us? Evil is it that they judge!

  15. But when it shall descend in their court, evil shall then be the morning of the warned ones.

  16. Nay! do those who have wrought evil deeds think that We will make them like those who believe and do good-- that their life and their death shall be equal? Evil it is that they judge.

  17. Allah has prepared for them a severe punishment; surely what they do is evil.

  18. They make their oaths a shelter, and thus turn away from Allah's way; surely evil is that which they do.
