  1. Then We raised you up after your death that you may give thanks.

  2. Or the like of him (Uzair) who passed by a town, and it had fallen down upon its roofs; he said: When will Allah give it life after its death? So Allah caused him to die for a hundred years, then raised him to life. He said: How long have you tarried? He said: I have tarried a day, or a part of a day. Said He: Nay! you have tarried a hundred years; then look at your food and drink-- years have not passed over it; and look at your ass; and that We may make you a sign to men, and look at the bones, how We set them together, then clothed them with flesh; so when it became clear to him, he said: I know that Allah has power over all things.

  3. Only those accept who listen; and (as to) the dead, Allah will raise them, then to Him they shall be returned.

  4. And He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six periods-- and His dominion (extends) on the water-- that He might manifest to you, which of you is best in action, and if you say, surely you shall be raised up after death, those who disbelieve would certainly say: This is nothing but clear magic.

  5. Dead (are they), not living, and they know not when they shall be raised.

  6. And they swear by Allah with the most energetic of their oaths: Allah will not raise up him who dies. Yea! it is a promise binding on Him, quite true, but most people do not know;

  7. And peace on him on the day he was born, and on the day he dies, and on the day he is raised to life

  8. And peace on me on the day I was born, and on the day I die, and on the day I am raised to life.

  9. There is naught but our life in this world; we die and we live and we shall not be raised again.

  10. They say: What! When we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we then be raised?

  11. What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then certainly be raised,

  12. And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised?
