  1. Our Lord! surely Thou art the Gatherer of men on a day about which there is no doubt; surely Allah will not fail (His) promise.

  2. Our Lord! and grant us what Thou hast promised us by Thy messengers; and disgrace us not on the day of resurrection; surely Thou dost not fail to perform the promise.

  3. So He made hypocrisy to follow as a consequence into their hearts till the day when they shall meet Him because they failed to perform towards Allah what they had promised with Him and because they told lies.

  4. But they slew her, so he said: Enjoy yourselves in your abode for three days, that is a promise not to be belied.

  5. (Musa) said: Your appointment is the day of the Festival and let the people be gathered together in the early forenoon.

  6. The great fearful event shall not grieve them, and the angels shall meet them: This is your day which you were promised.

  7. On the day when We will roll up heaven like the rolling up of the scroll for writings, as We originated the first creation, (so) We shall reproduce it; a promise (binding on Us); surely We will bring it about.

  8. And they ask you to hasten on the punishment, and Allah will by no means fail in His promise, and surely a day with your Lord is as a thousand years of what you number.

  9. Is he to whom We have promised a goodly promise which he shall meet with like him whom We have provided with the provisions of this world's life, then on the day of resurrection he shall be of those who are brought up?

  10. O people! guard against (the punishment of) your Lord and dread the day when a father shall not make any satisfaction for his son, nor shall the child be the maker of any satisfaction for his father; surely the promise of Allah is true, therefore let not this world's life deceive you, nor let the archdeceiver deceive you in respect of Allah.

  11. Say: You have the appointment of a day from which you cannot hold back any while, nor can you bring it on.

  12. This is what you are promised for the day of reckoning.

  13. So leave them plunging into false discourses and sporting until they meet their day which they are threatened with.

  14. Therefore bear up patiently as did the messengers endowed with constancy bear up with patience and do not seek to hasten for them (their doom). On the day that they shall see what they are promised they shall be as if they had not tarried save an hour of the day. A sufficient exposition! Shall then any be destroyed save the transgressing people?

  15. And the trumpet shall be blown; that is the day of the threatening.

  16. Therefore woe to those who disbelieve because of their day which they are threatened with.

  17. Therefore leave them alone to go on with the false discourses and to sport until they come face to face with that day of theirs with which they are threatened;

  18. Their eyes cast down; disgrace shall overtake them; that is the day which they were threatened with.
